Chad Smith Foundation — Music Education Partner of the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games

The partnership reinforces a commitment to empowering community and fostering inclusion through the power of music.

The Chad Smith Foundation has committed to serve as a music education partner for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, taking place June 20–26, 2026, in Minnesota. Concurrently, legendary musician and Foundation co-founder Chad Smith has been designated as an official Ambassador for the Games.

The Foundation will offer hands-on musical experiences at both the Athlete Village and Thrivent Fan Fest, enabling athletes, families and attendees to learn to play instruments in a welcoming atmosphere staffed by trained musicians.

"My music journey started when somebody put an instrument in my hands and showed me what was possible. We hope to bring that same experience to athletes, families and fans at an event that already provides so much inspiration to the world. I'm honored to serve as an Ambassador for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games and help champion such a powerful mission." — Chad Smith, Co-founder, Chad Smith Foundation

The Thrivent Fan Fest activation takes place at the Maroon Lot outside Huntington Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus. College musicians, including University of Minnesota School of Music students, will lead these sessions across a diverse range of musical genres.

"We believe in the power of music and that it is meant to be shared with all. Much like sports, music is incredibly inclusive. It brings people together, creates connections and gives everyone a chance to participate. That's what makes this partnership with the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games such a natural fit. With Chad serving as an Ambassador and our team on-site, we're looking to inspire people through music and make as much noise as possible." — Lewis Smith, Executive Director and Co-Founder, Chad Smith Foundation
